Old Sevier
Established in 1900, Old Sevier is a suburban neighborhood populated mainly by college students. This makes it a good place for college students to consider. Old Sevier neighborhood is close to the University of Tennessee and offers specific amenities nearby geared towards the student body. Ambitious scholars can enjoy seasonal excitement between semesters and school breaks, and parents can rest easy knowing that the area has an above-average safety rating. For these reasons, the neighborhood is rated among the top 7.3% of college-friendly places to live in TN. The real estate comprises small (studio to two-bedroom) to medium-sized (three or four-bedroom) apartment complexes/high-rise apartments and single-family homes. Most of the residential real estate is renter-occupied. Many Old Sevier neighborhood residences are newer, built in 2000 or more recently. Several houses were also built between 1970 and 1999. Some of the most beautiful views of downtown are seen from Old Sevier, from both the homes high on the ridge and the parts of the neighborhood along the Tennessee River.

Suttree Landing Park
Old Sevier and South Coast Pizza have a hidden gem just off Sevier Ave. Suttree Landing Park hugs the shoreline of the Tennessee River, providing fantastic waterfront playspace for walkers, runners, paddlers, anglers, and children of all ages. Complementing the park is Waterfront Drive, an almost 3,000-foot-long two-lane streetscape. Waterfront Drive includes sidewalks, trees, landscaping, and LED road and pedestrian lighting. Specially designed engineering features – like bioswales and pervious concrete pavement – make sure the runoff that reaches the Tennessee River is clean water.
Picnic tables, bike racks, and precast concrete and backed benches are scattered throughout, providing an opportunity for visitors to leisurely enjoy the park and scenic views along the Tennessee River.
Visitors accessing the water are encouraged to check the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) website before entering the water for water release schedules and water elevation levels for Fort Loudoun. Click here to view the TVA webpage for Fort Loudoun.
